The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Burleson and is responsible for conducting all city elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas.

Qualifications for Candidacy
Candidates running for Burleson City Council must affirm that they are:


  • At least 18 years of as of the date of application
  • A citizen of the United States of America
  • A qualified voter of the city (which in the charter shall mean a person who is registered to vote by the State of Texas, whose registration is effective in the City of Burleson)
  • A resident of the city and have resided in the city for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election
  • Not delinquent in the payment of taxes due to the city
  • Not otherwise disqualified from serving on the city council by any other provision of law
